This is great stuff. I have been making a memory quilt for both my son and daughter, from baby to adulthood. Purchasing pre made sheets was expensive.
This will be cheaper. I am using unbleached muslin, a hewlett packard deskjet 720c printer, and have printed off some great photos already. The hardest part now, is chosing which photos to use!!!!!!!!!
Thanks,
Linda

I recieved the Buble Jet Set and I am so pleased with it I just finsihed a pictue on muslin for our family quilt and it is wonderful and nice bright colored picture. THis makes my day. I love to do memory quilts and memory books, I just did a book out of fabric for my sister for her 50t h Birthday, last week I wished I would have had this product than I would have been a lot better.
Thanks again,
Janice

I purchased a bottle of the bubble jet liquid. I like it a lot but
didn't have much luck with the freezer paper. My printer wanted to peel
the paper off the material. I went down to Staples and purchased the
whole sheet labels by Avery. I stuck them on the back of the material
and presto no more peeling. I could remove the label and use it two more
times before it started acting up. I thought I would share this info
with you in case someone else is having the same trouble with the freezer
paper.

Update: October 2000

The Bubble Jet Set 2000 will work with HP printers and all other printers. This product replaced the original formula - we do not manufacture the Original Formula any longer.

This product cannot be heat set. If you attempt to heat set this product it will not work at all! (Ironing the fabric will not effect this product!)

This product only works with 100% cotton or 100% silk. If you use fabrics with synthetic blends, it will not work. Must be 100% cotton or silk.

Results will vary with different printers.

This is very important!: DO NOT WASH ONLY IN COLD WATER! --- You must use a mild detergent when washing the fabric. We highly recommend the Bubble Jet Rinse product. If you do not wash your designs with a mild detergent, it will BLEED! The purpose for this step is to get the loose inks out of the fabric. Cold water will not get these loose inks out of the fabric and when it dries it will bleed! If washing the fabric by hand please wash with the Bubble Jet Rinse as well and work the rinse in the fabric for about 2 minutes. This should get all the loose inks out. Again, do not simply run the fabric under cold water. Please use the Bubble Jet Rinse!

Most important --- please follow the instructions on the bottle

BUBBLE JET SET 2000
FREQUENTLY ASK QUESTIONS

1. WILL THIS PRODUCT WORK ON MY PRINTER? This product will work with any printer that uses ink jet or bubble jet technology. Simply soak the fabric in the Bubble Jet Set solution and for 5 minutes ---Allow to dry until stiff. Then iron treated fabric to the shiny side of freezer paper. (Lois suggests using TWO thicknesses of freezer paper). Once this is completed simply feed fabric through your printer exactly like a sheet of paper and you are done!

2. WILL THIS PRODUCT DAMAGE MY PRINTER? NO. This product does not effect the printer because it does not connect to the printer in any way.

3. DO I NEED TO PRE WASH THE FABRIC? This product was tested with many different fabrics and there is no indications that you need to pre wash the fabric before applying the Bubble Jet Set solution. However, many crafters state they have seen better results with pre-washing, but it is not proven that this is true.

4. WHAT TYPES OF FABRICS WORKS THE BEST? This product was designed to work with 100% cottons and 100% silks. It may appear to work on other fabrics but you will have a much greater color loss if you use any fabrics other than 100% cotton and 100% silks.

5. HOW MUCH MUCH COLOR LOST SHOULD I EXPECT? This is very important to understand because the results may vary depending on what type of printer you may have. We have tested many different brands and have found that Canon gives the least amount of color lost compared to any other printer. However, this also depends on what mode you print in because if your printer has the capability to put more ink on the fabric then your image will appear to be brighter. The more ink the printer can put on the fabric the better the picture will be. Not all printers have this capability and it assumes it is printing on paper. The fabric will absorb most of the ink and it will appear to have faded but in reality the fabric is heavier than paper.

IN ALL CASES WE HAVE NOT FOUND NOTHING GREATER THAN A 10% COLOR LOSS FOR ALL PRINTERS.

6. SHOULD THE COLOR LOOK DIFFERENT ON FABRIC? Yes. The color will look different on fabric because of the density of the fabric. This process is no different than dyeing a shirt or a pair of pants. It is important to know that colors will look deeper on fabric and appear lighter on paper. Also, some detergents may have an effect on the inks. Results may vary.

7. DOES THIS PRODUCT MAKE THE FABRIC STIFF? No and Yes. The fabric will be stiff when the treated fabric dries but when you rinse in cold water the fabric will return to its natural feel and texture.

8. CAN I REUSE THE PRODUCT? Yes. You can reuse this product until the last drop is gone. It is important to remember to put the top on the bottle after you have finished using it.

9. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO DRY THE FABRIC WHEN TREATED? When you soak your fabric in the Bubble Jet Set Solution the best way to allow the fabric to dry is to HANG DRY the fabric. However, many have found great results allowing the fabric to dry on a towel.

10. CAN I BLOW DRY THE FABRIC WHEN TREATED? Yes. If you are in a rush and desire to dry faster. Simply blow dry the treated fabric (before printing) and in 3-5 minutes you are ready to iron to freezer paper and printing.

11. IS THE PRODUCT TOXIC OR DANGEROUS? This product is to be treated as a common house hold product. It can be opened in the house and you do not need any special precautions to use the product. We recommend using rubber goves if you are sensitive to chemicals. Open windows when using. The product is 85% water and contains many laundry detergent ingredients.

12. CAN I WASH FINISHED FABRIC IN THE WASHER MACHINE? Yes. We recommend that you wash the fabric in the washer machine to finalize the setting process of the fabric. However, it is not necessary to wash in the machine if you can get all the loose dyes out of the fabric in the cold rinse. If you are NOT going to machine wash the fabric, I suggest that you cold rinse the fabric in a pan or a bucket for 5 - 10 minutes to assure that all the loose inks are out.

13. WILL THE PRINTED DESIGN FADE WITH CONTINUOUS WASHING? YES YES YES. Remember, this process is just like dyeing a shirt and if you wash that shirt over and over again you will see fading in the colors!

14. WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF THE PRODUCT? The product was tested for shelf life for 1 full year.

15. WILL HEAT OR COLD EFFECT THE PRODUCT? Test are still under progress

16. DOES THE WEIGHT OF THE FABRIC EFFECT PRINT QUALITY? Yes, the weight of the fabric has a big effect on the quality. In most cases the heavier the fabric the better the quality. This also varies with each printer!

17. HOW MANY FABRIC SHEETS CAN I MAKE OUT OF 1 - 32OZ BOTTLE? It takes less than an 1/2 an ounce to make 1 fabric sheet. But in general between 50 and 60 sheets!

18. FABRIC PRINTING VS PAPER PRINTING Paper printing will have a different effect on ink than fabric printing. The colors will appear to be different but in reality it is because of the change from paper to fabric.
