Letter Received 09/06/02 Rosie: I've attached a copy of the quilt that you and the other ladies so lovingly made for Austin Felty. He's very proud of it and uses it nightly. We cannot thank you enough. My other kids are hinting that I should make THEM quilts for Christmas now.......... :)We are also so thrilled in our hearts that Austin just met his "5 year mark" of being cancer-free at the beginning of August. God has been so gracious to us...........Austin was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocidic Leukemia in 1997 when he was 2 1/2 years old. Our daughter was only 2 months old and nursing hourly. I was also still suffering from the post-partum blues and spent many hourscrying along with our daughter in the hallways at Children's. Our oldest son was 7 and, unfortunately, neglected through a lot of this turmoil. While my husband and I stayed through the initial diagnosis with Austin at Children's Hospital S.D., our oldest was with friends. Since Austin's diagnosis, he has spent quite a few Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays at Children's due to pneumonia setting in on him that time of year. Actually, the food wasn't too bad! :) We live in the Imperial Valley and our emergency services aren't the best either. Austin has been life-flighted by helicopter a few times to Children's from our local hospitals and tells all his friends he's been in a helicopter and they haven't! I must say, the Children's staff that accompanied him on those flights made it such a relaxing experience for him.(like the time they blew up rubber doctor gloves and drew faces on them to make Austin laugh) The Ronald McDonald house was often a home for us. We are so grateful! What a wonderful help in a desperate time of need! Thank God for the folks who made that possible.Rosie, I want to truly thank you from my heart for all you have begun and work hard to do for our kids with cancer. It's such a dark, lonely time in our lives and you cannot know the precious beaming light you shine our way with your acts of love.May God smile down on you! :) :) :)By the way, I'm an avid quilter myself and would love to hear of any opportunities that I can help in the future. I visit your shop often when we have trips to Children's. Although the trip used to represent a nightmare experience for us - I now can't wait to make my MUCH NEEDED stop at Rosie's for my fabric! Believe it or not, we actually BUDGET it in! :) Love, Regina Felty Letter Received 8/10/02 i was at camp reach for the sky and i just wanted to thank you for the quilt. i love mine.... its really beautiful. every year at camp i really enjoy getting a quilt and i know that all my friends and i at camp really appreciate the hard work and time you put in to making those quilts. i have 5 and i save them all, depending on my mood and the season i switch them around and sleep with them or curl up with one when i watch tv or read. thank you so much!!!!! :) brenn Letter Received 07/25/02 Dear Rosie & Special Quilters I just wanted to day Thank You so much for the beautiful quilt my boys received from you. Thank you so much for the beautiful quilt I received at Camp Reach for the Sky this summer (2001.) It had all my favorite colors in it (purple and pink.) My mom is typing this message for me. I am also enclosing a picture of me and my quilt. I will be taking my quilt to the hospital when I get my stem cell transplant (early August 2001.) ........Delaney Wright Thank you and all your volunteers for their wonderful work to brighten a child's day and hospital room with your magical work. Delaney loves her quilt and keeps it on her bed in her room when she is at home. When she is in the hospital, it is on her bed there. A Letter Received 08/18/00 Dear Rosie, Now that the pressing rush of Resident Camp is over, I have time to thank you for once again accomplishing the incredible tast of providing quilts for all the campers at Reach for the Sky Day Camp and Resident Camp. What an awesome performance! The quilts were even more beautiful this year than last-and such a good size! You should know that one of the resident campers who became ill on Tuesday and had to go home told me in the car as I drove her to meet her mother that she was very disappointed not to be there for quilt day. (I made sure she got a quilt!) Again, many thanks on behalf of the campers, the staff, and the American Cancer Society. You and all your quilters have certainly been a good friend of Reach for the Sky! I hope you will pass along our appreciation to those who worked so hard to make those wonderful quilts. Sincerely, Barbara Wiggins, Director - Reach for the Sky Day Camp.

My daughter Laurel has just had her one year anniversary of being cancer free from Leukemia. She is now 5 and doing great. Thank you for you beautiful quilts and for all the long hours and hard work everyone has done for the enjoyment of all these kids. I cannot tell you how much those quilts mean to my children. Thank you again. Shelley Mackey
A Note Received 08/15/00 Rosie, I just wanted you to know how much the kids truly appreciate your quilts. I am a psychologist and used to work in the oncology dept at childrens. I still see oncology patients and just today one of mine came in, fresh from camp, and was excited about his new quilt. It is his third, and definately a highlight each year. Please share with all the women who donate their time to make these quilts that they are appreciated more than they will ever know. It is truly a labor of love! Sincerely, Lori Rappaport, Ph.D.
A Note Received 05/15/00 I am so impressed with your quilts for camp reach for the sky. My mother works at KU Med Center in Kansas City, KS. She works with kids with cancer exclusively. They have a classroom for the kids that will be there for a while, and for the younger kids to "play" in a safe environment. After seeing these kids that she works with, I know that anything that is done like what you are doing is so appreciated by family, and staff alike. Keep up the great work!!! Lisa Shenk
A Note Received 02/15/00 Hi - I just wanted to let you know how much the kids at the camps love the quilts. I have been a staff volunteer for about 6 years with the little ones at day camp. The kids love their quilts. I also work as a nurse at children's hospital in the critical care unit and occasionally take care of some of these kids. Many of them bring their quilts with them to the hospital and consider the quilts to be one of their security items. As a quilter myself, I know what goes into making a quilt, even a small one and I appreciate your work. Thanks to all of the volunteers. Erika Scarbrough
A Note Received 02/01/00 Rosie - I thought that I would let you know about of of the women that works with me. I am new to the labor and delivery unit of Palomar hospital, and just learned that the birth certificate clerk's daughter in battling cancer of the leg. At the age of nine she had her right leg amputated and bravely continues her chemotherapy treatments. She refuses to go to the hospital until she is sure that her "Camp Reach for the Sky" quilt is packed. It has gotten her through some difficult times, and she is rarely without it. I look forward to joining your group to make other reach for the sky quilts. Sueann Martin A Note Received 09/01/99 Rosie -- Please pass this on to all the people who helped with the quilts for the campers Once again, a fantastic job! The staff and campers love these quilts. Iwork at Children's in the oncology dept., and am a member of ASG San Diego Chapter. Most of these kids are current patients or long-term patients of ours that are in remission. "Camp" is the main event of the year for them and the staff. At our lunch table today, Jayne Hamlet who I'm sure you know, was describing some of the quilts to us. Also, I saw some of the photos in her camp album. I just looked at your pictures on the web page--the quilts are gorgeous, as are the kids smiles! I hope you are able to do this for them each year. We know it is a huge project, but I can't think of a better one. Thank you all! Kathy Scott Oncology Research Coordinator Children's Hospital of San Diego Letter Received 09/02/99 Dear Rosie and ALL the Incredible Quilters On behalf of the campers and staff at Camp Reach for the Sky, I would like to thank each of you for the beautiful quilts for each of our campers. The time, craftsmanship, and love that went into each quilt truly showed and the campers loved each one. Many times during the week of camp I would look around and find one of our kids wrapped up in their quilt or admiring their roommates. What a special gift for each of them. In the days since camp many of the campers have returned to the hospital for chemotherapy treatments and with their belongings are their quilts to place on their beds and keep them warm at night. Thank you so very much for kindness and generosity. Jayne Hamlet - Program Director Sheri Sevenbergen - Camp Director
