APRIL Stripping on the Blvd. Class
"Japanese Stars and Lanterns"
Pattern by Carolyn Foreter
PATTERN IS PAPER PIECED............
Create a simple block that transforms itself into twinkling stars and lanterns, while also using up your
scrap strips and strings. The name of the pattern originates from the early 1900s; it's a great design for
using up lots of bits of fabric left over from other projects. You might use one fabric for the star outlines
and the border, as this will help to unify all of the other scraps. Or you can create a fun and truly
"scrappy" quilt by not worrying about this and just using scraps!
Finished Quilt Size: 76" x 76"
Pattern Sugg. Retail: $10.95
Class Date: Friday - April 13,, 2012
Time: 10am - 4pm

Double Wedding Ring
by Quiltsmart
•NO curved piecing – clever appliqué method!
•Square blocks sew up fast!
•Beautiful Results
Two quilts made by Rosie will be on display in our classroom.
Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and forget everything you know about piecing a Double Wedding Ring quilt.  But rest assured, you will wind up with essentially the same result.  You'll get there by a very different path that is faster and far less frustrating.  Through the magic of appliqué using fusible interfacing, you'll still get all those curves, but without curved piecing.
You have a choice of making: Table Runner, Small/Baby, or Lap/Twin,
Double Wedding Ring Classic Pack
Double Wedding Ring by M.P. "Mattie" Rhoades. Classic Pack includes illustrated instructions, 8 panels of engineered printed interfacing, a design page, and an acrylic wedge cutting template. Kit yields either one lap/twin size, or smaller-size variations (45" small/baby, 22x45" tablerunner).
Price: $35.95
Double Wedding Ring Snuggler Pack
Double Wedding Ring by M.P. "Mattie" Rhoades includes 4 panels of Double Wedding Ring printed interfacing & instructions. Kit yields either one small (45" square) size or two table runners.
Price: $25.95
Kits DO NOT INCLUDE Fabric.
Date: To be determined
Time: Saturday 9am - 4pm and Sunday - 9am - 4pm
Fee: $20.00 plus cost of Kit (Kit does not include fabric)
Instructor: Rosie Gonzalez
Supply list and kit will be issued at time of registration.

April 2008
Dear Ms. Gonzalez
Several weeks ago, my daughter was a patient at Childrens Hospital and received one of your beautiful quilts. Please know how much that meant to our family. Lindsey spent two weeks snuggled in it-co comforting!. She is back home (Yay!) and continues to love it.
Thank you so much, it was so nice to feel others were with us during this difficult time.
Sincerely Janelle
Hi Rosie,
I just wanted to thank you and "your" quilters for the wonderful quilt my daughter brought home from Camp Reach for the Sky this summer.
It's one in reds, oranges, and blacks, with a fire like edging and backing. VERY cool! (Or should that be hot? ;-) ) She forgot it at camp :-(( and had a few sad days wondering if it would be found - it was - who could miss it!? They had it in the front office at the American Cancer Society for a few days until we could pick it up. When we got there, the two women at the front desk said EVERYBODY was commenting on it, and apparently a couple people wanted to buy it!
Leticia is thrilled to have it back, it's on her bed and has really brightened up her room! Finding her quilt was one of her highlights of camp this year, and it was "the best year ever!"
Thanks to all of you for brightening her (OUR) life!!
Sue
Thank You to all our Customers, Staff Members, Machine Quilters, Vendors and Friends who have helped make this possible. WHAT IS STIPPLING:
Stippling is a free motion quilting technique used for creating a flattened background effect.
The denser the stippling, the more the background will recede. This is usually used to surround a larger design, like a flower, to make the design seem to stand out.
To Stipple:
1. Drop the feed dogs.
2. Place regular thread in the bobbin and either regular or monofilament thread in the needle.
3. Attach a darning foot.
4. Place the quilt under the foot and press the "needle down" button twice to bring the bobbin thread to the surface.
5. Drop the presser foot and, guiding the quilt gently, start sewing in a meandering motion trying not to stitch over previously sewn quilting lines.
