Check Cashing Policy - We require an California Drivers Licence and Work and Home phone number. We also require a 'Bank Thumb Signature' (thumb print). This is for our protection. The ability to prints ID's and Checks on the computer have made it easy for people to create false documents that look very real. If the check is returned and the documents are fake, we have no recourse, however, if the check has a 'Thumb Signature' then we can file with the City Attorney in order to recover our losses. If you do not wish to provide us with a 'Thumb Signature', you can pay with cash or credit card.

Note: the number of returned checks in on the rise, or we would not have to implement these policies.

We charge $25.00 for each returned check the first time and $50.00 the second time. Our bank DOES NOT RE-DEPOSIT, so to avoid charges by the bank and then by us, be sure you have sufficient funds to cover checks written.

If you have a questions regarding this policy, please contact me at rozgonzalez@cox.net. Do not take it out on our staff, they are merely following directions and doing their job. Your cooperation if appreciated in this matter.

What is Stippling?

Stippling is a free motion quilting technique used for creating a flattened background effect.

The denser the stippling, the more the background will recede. This is usually used to surround a larger design, like a flower, to make the design seem to stand out.

To Stipple:
1. Drop the feed dogs.
2. Place regular thread in the bobbin and either regular or monofilament thread in the needle.
3. Attach a darning foot.
4. Place the quilt under the foot and press the "needle down" button twice to bring the bobbin thread to the surface.
5. Drop the presser foot and, guiding the quilt gently, start sewing in a meandering motion trying not to stitch over previously sewn quilting lines.

Are you curious about copyright? What are your rights when you purchase a pattern? Do a few changes make the design yours? Could you be violating the law if you sell your quilt? At QNM, we've heard from many readers who are confused about how copyright laws apply to them and their quiltmaking. Dear Ms. Gonzalez
Several weeks ago, my daughter was a patient at Childrens Hospital and received one of your beautiful quilts. Please know how much that meant to our family. Lindsey spent two weeks snuggled in it-co comforting!. She is back home (Yay!) and continues to love it.
Thank you so much, it was so nice to feel others were with us during this difficult time.

September 2008
Hi Rosie,
I just wanted to thank you and "your" quilters for the wonderful quilt my daughter brought home from Camp Reach for the Sky this summer.
It's one in reds, oranges, and blacks, with a fire like edging and backing. VERY cool! (Or should that be hot? ;-) ) She forgot it at camp :-(( and had a few sad days wondering if it would be found - it was - who could miss it!? They had it in the front office at the American Cancer Society for a few days until we could pick it up. When we got there, the two women at the front desk said EVERYBODY was commenting on it, and apparently a couple people wanted to buy it!
Leticia is thrilled to have it back, it's on her bed and has really brightened up her room! Finding her quilt was one of her highlights of camp this year, and it was "the best year ever!"
Thanks to all of you for brightening her (OUR) life!!
Sue

When you purchase the
Memory Craft 11000 SPECIAL EDITION Sewing Machine!
You may notice that the Special Edition doesn’t LOOK very different from the original 11000 – but don’t let this fool you! The Special Edition incorporates the new AcuFil™ Quliting System, which is nothing short of a revolution in use and function for embroidery and quilting! Janome has developed a host of new features in the Special Edition that cater specially to quilters – a spectrum of the market previously underserved by embroidery machines.

You will be amazed by the AcuFil™ Quilting System featuring Stippling in the Hoop. A user can enter quilt dimensions into the AcuFil™ Calculator, and the Special Edition will lay out stippling to cover an entire quilt top, up to almost 10’ x 10’. The new two-way PC connection allows a user to print a template from the Special Edition, and then use the AcuFil™ Quilting Hoop and Template  - with specially-designed magnetic clamps - to hoop quilt layers quickly and easily. New functions in the Digitizer software will complement the Special Edition’s quilting features, and the machine offers 72 new embroidery designs created specifically for the quilting audience. These features are exclusive to Janome .

The AcuFil™ Quilting System is just the beginning of the exciting new features of the Memory Craft 11000 Special Edition. A new Adjustable Ergonomic Knee Lift is a standard accessory, and allows users to select their most comfortable adjustment – for hours of sewing comfort. The machine also includes the AcuGuide™ Automatic Cloth Guide. This attaches to the embroidery mechanism and seam allowances can be set in the machine for accurate results. It’s perfect for hemming or aligning rows of quilting or decorative stitching. New embroidery functions include Automatic Jump Thread Trimming – you can program it to trim threads as small as 3mm in length – Adjustable Speed While Embroidering, Adjustable Hoop Position, Trace Basting and Exact Resume.
