HGTV has cancelled Simply Quilts with Alex Anderson
Alex confirmed that the information is true. HGTV has elected not to purchase new episodes of Simply Quilts from the production company, Weller Grossman.
This is not Alex's decision, her desire, if possible, is to continue the promotion, development, and education of the quilting industry through her show.

Beginning February, 2006 all programs on Simply Quilts with be reruns of previous shows.

You can help save the most popular quilt show on network television. Please write to HGTV at the following address.
In addition, there is currently an "on-line" petition being circulated but this could be ineffective without hard mail (do sign the petition).
Let your voice be heard! Fight to keep quality quilt programs in the network schedules. Do it today and please email this letter to all your quilting guilds and friends.

Double-Faced Quilt Wine Sack
by Lisa Shepard Stewart for Marcus Brothers

This easy wine sack makes a quick "anytime" gift idea, especially with a pre-quilted fabric in neutral muslin tones as the backdrop for simple fusible appliqué with a wine country theme. And remember, pre-quilted means no lining is necessary! One half yard yields two sacks one to keep and one to give! Go simple or elaborate, taking the idea further with your own added touches like hand or machine embroidery, stenciling, beadwork and more. Gold cording adds a luxurious finishing touch...

Performance Riverside's Quilters Relives Stories of Pioneer Women
Anyone who has a family quilt has probably heard their grandmother reminisce about the history in each scrap of cloth. That type of story told in the musical Quilters, presented by Performance Riverside at Riverside Community College's Landis Performing Arts center November 11-20, 2005. Quilters stitches together the story of Sarah McKendree Bonham and her seven daughters, who represent the American pioneer women for whom quilting was a both a handicraft and a way to express their
feelings about their lives. The musical is adapted from the book The Quilters: Women and Domestic Art, an oral history compiled by Patricia Cooper and Norma Bradley Allen. The original performance was an audition piece by actress-writer Molly Newman. The music and lyrics are mainly by Barbara Damashek, with words borrowed on occasion from poems, traditional folk songs and other sources.
Director Teri Ralston has performed and directed theatre around the country, most extensively in New York and Los Angeles. Her first show in New York was Your Own Thing, followed immediately by Jaques Brel is Alive and Well. This was followed by the original Broadway casts of Stephen Sondheim's Company and A Little Night Music, Stephen Swartz' The Baker's Wife, and Cy Coleman's Home Again. Her television credits include Frasier, Dharma and Greg, Murder She Wrote and Married With Children.
The Landis Performing Arts Center is located on the Riverside Community College City Campus at 4800 Magnolia Avenue. Performances for Quilters are on November 11th, 12th, 18th, and 19th at 8pm, November 12th, 13th, 19th, and 20th at 2pm, and November 20th at 7pm. Tickets are $35, $30, $25, and $20, and can be purchased through the Landis Box Office, 951-222-8100. Discounted weekday performance tickets for may be obtained for school and senior groups by calling 951-222-8372. More information about Performance Riverside is available at www.performanceriverside.org.

Rosie,
I am part of the San Diego Bereavement Consortium, a group of organizations working in the community with families that have experienced a loss. At our last meeting, I learned that one group, Survivors of Suicide Loss, was in need of someone to assemble a quilt that contains blocks made in memory of people who have died. Several years ago one was made and continues to be displayed at various events. The quilt itself is hugely healing for many, as you can imagine.
Ironically, I had just come to the meeting from your store, and upon seeing this, thought that perhaps you might know of someone who would be willing to help them out. It would be a great gift of healing for many, and I can guarantee, a moving experience for those who volunteer.
If you can think of any way to help, the person to contact is Bonnie Bear at Survivors of Suicide Loss

Dear Rosie,
I am writing to ask you to help me spread the word about my hurricane relief project: Blankets for the Gulf. My goal is to collect 5,000 hand-made blankets by December 1st and then I will be delivering them to hurricane victims
during the holidays. You can read more about this project on my website: http://www.blanketsforthegulf.com/
I started this project last month and so far it has spread by word-of-mouth and is really gaining momentum - I'm very excited about the results so far! A Girl Scout troop from Minnesota is sending me 100 blankets this week and I've been hearing similar good news from folks all over the country. But I think the key to meeting the goal of 5,000 is to continue to spread the word.
Thank you very much,
Heather Foeh

Exciting News From Quilt Camp in the Pines & Quilting in the Dessert
Dear Quilters:
Can you believe it? We've taken on another venue at the request of the Tucson Quilter's Guild. They wanted us to organize some quilt classes during their annual quilt show (Friday, January 13 to Sunday, January 15, 2006. So here is our offering of 24 workshops from Thursday, January 12 to Saturday, January 14. Some are only a half day so you can go to class and also go to the quilt
show. Of course, what could be more fun than spending a night or two and not miss a thing. The Radisson Hotel is adjacent to the Tucson Convention Center, so you can park your car and take advantage of classes, quilt show, vendors and spend the night. They have a toll free number 800-333-3333 and are offering quilters a special $89 rate.

Note the "Preview Party" on Thursday night. Only a limited number can attend the festivities. Bring your friends to enjoy the mariachi music, food, and an early look at the prize winning quilts. Be the first to shop the vendors and take pictures without the crowds. No tickets will be sold that night - make your reservations now.

In a couple weeks we'll have the class schedule online for Quilting in the Desert in Phoenix (January 22-29). All six days of exciting new workshops, luncheon lectures, and closing banquet will get your new year off to a good start. For more information visit us at our WebSite, or send $2.00 to Quilting in the Desert, 854 Brewer Road, Sedona, AZ 86336-6231

Happy stitching,

Today, Robyn has entered into a new fabric design agreement with manufacturer South Sea Imports and is focusing
all of her efforts on her new line. She says the relationship in a very positive one, and she feels she has been given tremendous support as well as free rein to express her creativity. Please visit her website at www.robynpandolph.com.
